Tips on Trying to Improve Your Overall Health

Are you working towards improving your health?
Here are 4 things you can do for your health that a lot of people miss, or don’t focus enough on:

Get Outside

One thing that most people are not doing enough of? Getting outside! Unfortunately, most people are deficient in Vitamin D and the easiest “cure” of this is by going outside and getting natural sun on your skin. The issue most people run into, even if they are going outside? They are blocking UV rays with copious amounts of sunscreen. I think that we have been led to believe that all sun is bad. While maybe not all of it is good all the time, if we get enough sun, without sunscreen, it’s really great for our overall health. Most health practitioners recommend getting morning sun because it not only helps with Vitamin D levels, but it also reduces stress and it helps balance your circadian rhythm, as well. Going outside is SO important to your overall health and wellbeing, so start making it more of a priority.

If you are unable to get outside because your outdoor space is unusable, work on fixing that! Sabba’s Landscaping, Lawn, Pavers, and Fencing is a great place to start because they can help you create the patio of your dreams. They are experts when it comes to Monmouth county paver patios. They say, “Sabba’s Landscaping, Lawn, Pavers, and Fencing is a leading patio builder in Monmouth County.  Whether it’s a patio constructed of pavers, natural stone (flagstone, slate, bluestone, limestone), brick or concrete—Sabba’s goal is to exceed your expectation at every stage.”

My favorite patio look is definitely natural stone. Here’s what they say about natural stone patios:

Natural stonenatural stone patios are usually constructed of flagstone, bluestone, slate and/or limestone.  They can be built with stones cut in consistent shapes (usually rectangles) or their natural irregular shapes.   Natural stone offers a truly impressive look.   They can be more expensive than other materials, especially if they are made from irregular shapes; the master mason must fit them together and cut them to finish the sides of the patio.  However, one has to consider that a patio is a long-term investment in entertainment and property value.   The cost is worth it for those who love the elegance of stone.

Having a patio installed is an awesome way to make your outdoor space more usable – and it will help you get outside more!

Prioritize Nutrition First

Before you lean on supplements to “fix” your health, maybe you should consider prioritizing nutrition first. You could work out each day, get outdoor sun, have relatively low stress, but still feel awful and still be unhealthy. Why? Because a huge piece of overall wellness and health comes back to nutrition. How your body thrives is 100% dependent on your diet. What you eat and drink. This includes your water intake, the amount of sugar you are eating each day (especially refined sugar), the amount and type of carbs you are eating (no 2 carbs are created equal – you can’t compare highly processed pizza to a sweet potato), and so much more. Your nutrition dictates how you feel, so make sure you are making it a priority to treat your body well through great nutrition.

Reduce Stress

Another missing link that a lot of people forget to focus on? Stress! Reducing stress is SO important when it comes to overall health. If you are too stressed, your body is working really hard. It’s in a constant state of fight or flight. You can’t truly become healthy in a constantly stressed state. So, if you are working towards better health, reduce your stress to focus on optimal health (especially hormones!).

Exercise Each Day

Last but not least, exercise each day, but don’t go overboard. Something as simple as a 30 minute walk around your block is great, weightlifting or yoga can definitely be amazing for you, as well. High intensity cardio is definitely not bad for you, but so many people put way too more emphasis on it, and that results in doing too much of it. Work on getting some form of exercise in daily, but don’t go overboard and stress your body out even more. It could backfire! My favorite way to to unwind myself is by going for a nice walk outside. I usually bring my dog with me but sometimes times I don’t. I love taking in the fresh air, it gives me an instant calming relief.
