Going
anywhere new with your family should be an adventure, but sometimes it can be very stressful if you don’t know how to prepare. Something like the beach is a great example. It can be an amazing day out, but if we don’t prepare properly we can end up being burnt, covered in sand, and quite possibly, miserable. Let’s show you some approaches to make your beach day out far more worthwhile for you and the children.

Hide the Valuables

If you don’t know how to hide your valuables properly, you could benefit from learning to minimize the stress. A day out at the beach should be about making sure you all have lots of fun, but for peace of mind, you should know how to protect your items as well. Rather than just hiding something under a beach chair, you can do a few things to make sure that it is more difficult to get those purses and car keys. A zip lock bag is a great item you can put all your items in and hide them under a beach towel or keep it in the cooler.

Have Enough Sunscreen

Sunscreen is something you cannot have enough of. It may take a long time to cover your kids, but you need to make sure that there is plenty on them to minimize burning. You should pay attention to the areas that most parents miss, for example, the back, ears, shoulders, as well as the tops of the feet. Don’t forget to protect yourself as well. I have done that too many times to count and the aftermath is never fun.

Create Shade

As nice as it is to get yourself out in the sun, you need to have enough shade for the kids. Get yourself a basic beach umbrella and you are all set. If this is not enough, you can always get a tent or a canopy. It’s about making sure that you know your limits when you are out in the sun, so you should always have a bit of shade handy. When kids have sunstroke it can make for a day, and enough shade should always be high on your priority list.

Give Them Enough Toys

There are plenty of great beach toys out there, but the best thing to do is give them toys that they can throw. If you’ve got a small home and your kids are not allowed to throw anything around the house (which is common sense), giving them some balls and frisbees can provide a lot of fun. If you’ve got older kids, you might want to think about something like a metal detector so they can go exploring.

Know How to Get Sand Off!

Sand can get everywhere. Before you get back in the car, the best thing to do is use baby powder on your children’s feet and legs as it will absorb all the moisture. You can brush the sand off before you get into the car.

Having a great day at the beach is all about being prepared. These are a few little things that will make all the difference so you can enjoy your day in the sun.
